Frederick McCarthy
Founder and Managing Partner
Frederick McCarthy is responsible for the overall direction of the company, and has over 25 years of experience in real estate development, corporate finance and strategy and business development. Since 2010, Frederick has lead Vertical Fields’s efforts to acquire and develop more than 1 million square feet of self-storage.
Prior to forming Vertical Fields, Frederick founded and managed FlexBox Self Storage, a 40€ million developer and operator of self storage facilities in France, Italy and Switzerland from 2007 to 2010.
Frederick’s other real estate investments include approximately $50 million of residential repositionings in South Florida, New York and Boston.
Frederick began his career as an investment banker at BT. Alex. Brown, raising debt financing and providing mergers & acquisitions advisory to Financial Sponsor clients. He earned a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University.
Christopher Peterson
Partner
Christopher Peterson joined Vertical Fields in March of 2016, and is responsible for the operations of the company. He brings over 25 years of experience in real estate acquisitions, development, finance, and project management in the residential and office sectors. Since joining the company, Christopher has entitled and constructed over 110,000 gross square feet of self storage space.
Prior to joining Vertical Fields, Christopher Peterson was Vice President of the country’s third largest affordable housing developer where he originated or managed the development of over 2,900 residential units, or approximately $622 million of total development costs. Additionally, Christopher managed multi-layered capital structures to finance these developments involving financial partners such as Citibank, Bank of America and JP Morgan Chase on both the equity and debt side.
Christopher began his career as an investment banker at CIBC World Markets. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University.
